Favorite Lip Pencils

If you learned anything about my relationship with lipstick from my favorite lipstick post, it's that I look for products that require minimal maintenance and effort. You may have also learned that I have a lot of feelings about lip products, which is slightly strange. BUT lip pencils/crayons/whatever-you-want-to-call-them are a lazy girl's best friend, and I'm going to share my favorites with you because I just want everyone to be happy and have pretty lips (basically synonymous). DSC_0589
So Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip in 15C is actually a lipliner pencil, which are typically used prior to lipstick, but I prefer using this as an all over color dolo. It's definitely on the dry side so I would recommend exfoliating any dead skin off your lips and using a really good lip balm before using this. BUT, once you get it on, it's on. This shit is literally waterproof. I really like this color in particular because it's a medium pink that isn't too crazy but still brings color to your face, and it gives you a likkle bit of that pouty lip look which I don't hate.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl is a beautiful true red and has a matte finish that doesn't make your lips look dry which is pretty rare with matte lip products (I'm looking at you MAC). Also a huge huge HUGE perk is that this is a lipliner and lipstick in one. I usually would never do a red lip without a liner actually, but with this pencil I can line my lips with it first then fill them in and BOOM. Okay so I'm gonna cheat right now because I was only going to talk about one NARS lip pencil, but I just can't. I love too many so I'll make this quick. Dolce Vita (a dusty rose, everyday color), Never Say Never (when I want rosey lips), Sex Machine (pretty pink) and Damned (deep magenta). NARS Satin Lip Pencil's are great too, my favorite is Biscayne Park (just the perfect nude, NBD). I really like NARS lip pencils okay.

Jordana Moisture Balm Stain 02 Sweet Pink, first let me just quickly say that THIS SMELLS DISGUSTING. It just has a sickeningly sweet scent, it's gross. Buuut, it's super cheap (under 3 bucks at Walgreens, SUP) and this color is so pretty. You could probably tell by the name that this is more of a stain than a lipstick, but it actually lasts and wears really well. So if you can thug it out and not gag uncontrollably for the 30 seconds it's gonna take you to put this on, get there. Fortunately the scent doesn't linger on your lips, so you skraight. Another dope lip pencil under 10 bucks is Sonia Kashuk Velvety Matte Lip Crayon 09 Pinky Nude. It's very similar to the NARS Velvet Matte Pencil, but creamier. If you want Bridget Bardot lips, this crayon is the one, game over.

Okay, so I know I've mentioned Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist before, and I just love this product. It's weird because I usually hate anything glossy, but this has just the right amount of glossiness to it. It smells like vanilla (uh, yum), requires zero effort to apply, and it just goes with everything. If you're in a rush for work or school and want to add some color to your lips or if you just want to look cute quick, this is your dude.

Let me first just say that I've had this lip pencil for four years, and in those four years I've worn a lot of red lipstick (like A LOT a lot), and it's not not even halfway finished. And you know what, I'm just gonna effing say it, Rimmel 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Liner Pencil in 021 Dynamite Red is the best red lip liner ever #SERIOUS. I feel like lip liner pencils are always very drying but nah, not this one. Super hydrating and has insane staying power. Like don't even bother with any other red lip liners, it's all you need.

And finally, Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Smitten. I'm about to make all of your dreams come true. I feel like at some point, every girl has gone on the hunt for the perfect pink lip stain. If you are or were that girl, I gotchu. Smitten is everything. Honestly, ef any other alleged "lip stain". This actually lasts on your lips. The trick is to apply it in layers (I usually go for 3 layers). I also really love it in the shade Crush, which is just a really deep berry/plum shade that's perfect for Fall.

Do you have a favorite lip pencil that I need in my life? Tell me about it!

  1. Forget the crayons, it's your the way you slip in musical references that's got me swooning over the way you write. But I'm about to go pick up all of these so...PEACE.
