Updated Skincare Routine
Since ya'll enjoyed my first skincare post, and I've been getting mad tumblr messages requesting an update, here it is yo. A lot of the products are the same, but that's only because they're so great. I'm a ride or die kinda chick when it comes to great skincare. I've separated it into morning, night, and extra steps.
I tried to simplify my morning routine as much as possible (yes, this is a simplified version, FOMF) because I tend to hit the snooze button on my alarm way too many times which leads to many profanities and me running around trying to get ready as fast as possible.
I start off by splashing warm water onto my face, doing this really opens up my pores to prep for cleansing and also just feels really nice. Then I squeeze a little bit of my favorite cleanser eva eva, Shiseido white lucent brightening cleansing foam, and evenly spread it over my face and neck before really getting in there with my Clarisonic. I do this for 60 seconds and once I'm done cleansing, I splash my face at least 10x with cold water. Ending my cleanse with cold water is v important because it really helps to tighten my pores, reduce swelling (especially around my eyes), and it wakes me up. Then I gently pat my face dry (keyword: pat) with a clean towel and move onto Bioderma H20 Micelle Solution. Bioderma H20 is everything. I wont get into it too much because I've spoken about it on my blog before, but it's a necessity. I especially like it on a Shiseido facial cotton (and by "like" I mean "need"). Once I'm done with that, I've been really into using this L'Oreal Youth Code texture perfecting serum before moisturizing with either Clinique moisturzing gel or Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (when my skin needs extra hydration). Serums are dope because they deliver a much greater concentrate of nutrients to your skin, and also help any moisturizer you apply after really get deep (pause) into your skin. Okay, so at this point in my skincare routine I'm usually yelling more profanities and probably dropping things too because I realize that I'm going to be late if I don't hurry the f up. I quickly dab/tap Origins GinZing refreshing eye cream all around my eye area/orbital bone. I love this eye cream because it instantly brightens up my eyes while de-puffing and hydrating. And finally, the last step in my morning routine is Rêve de Miel ultra-nourishing lip balm. I'm v serious about lip hydration. As you can see, I use a lot of the same products in the morning and at night. I also had to seriously calm down with my nighttime routine because I be tired and barely have the energy to stand over a sink for 2 minutes. But I would also NEVER go to bed without cleansing. Because that's freaking disgusting.
At night I really go in with warm water and Michael Todd charcoal detox cleanser. This cleanser is amazing. It gets all types of makeup off and it leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean without getting all tight and shit. But because I'm insane, that's not enough cleansing for me. Nah, I need more. I need that Shiseido white lucent cleanser and Clarisonic. After a minute of that, I pat my face dry with a towel and keep that cleansing game going skrong with a likkle bit of Bioderma H20 on a soft ass Shisedo facial cotton. Now, if you can believe it, I don't use a moisturizer on my face at night. HOW CRAZY IS THAT? But it's okay because I slather my entire face and décolletage with one hunnid percent pure Maracuja oil by Tarte. I love facial oils, and this one in particular is fantastic. It's rich in vitamin C so you get that instant radiant glow, and your skin looks even better in the morning. Then, just like my mornings, I end my nighttime routine with Origins eye cream and Nuxe lip balm.
I typically like to put on a facial mask at least once a week, and I'm constantly switching them up. Lately I've been really into this GlamGlow Youthmud treatment. It's a mud mask that leaves your skin noticeably more beautiful after just one use. It gently exfoliates your skin making it softer, brighter, and smoother. Who the f doesn't want all of those things for their skin? Stupid people. That's who. So don't be stupid yo. Speaking of stupid, you know what isn't stupid? La Roche-Posay Effaclar DUO. As much as I really love Eradikate by Kate Somerville, this La Roche-Posay joint is just as (if not more) effective. It says to apply all over your face, which I suppose you could, but I really just like using it as a spot treatment on any hyperpigmention or the occasional spot. And that's really it ya'll. This concludes my entire skincare process. I know it may seem a little intense, but it's really not. And it makes my skin happy which makes me happy so yay.
